Summary: This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Ph.D.-level or equivalent scientist to work on cutting-edge intelligent systems research applied to real operational problems. Sample projects: * Using ideas from genetics and linguistics to identify the lineage of malware and characterize the attacker * Using machine learning techniques, such as statistical relational reasoning to learn social networks from a variety of data sources * Researching and applying new probabilistic modeling and reasoning techniques, including probabilistic programming languages, to intelligence analysis You will use a number of fields including probabilistic modeling, machine learning, programming languages, natural language understanding, cyber security, databases, and graph theory. You will develop new theory, models, or algorithms, as well as implement research prototypes based on your ideas. You will write research reports and proposals, and you will have the opportunity to attend conferences and have your work published. Major Responsibilities/Activities: * Develop probabilistic models using advanced representations and algorithms and tools for working with advanced probabilistic representations. * Apply machine learning techniques to problems, and, where relevant, develop new techniques. * Envision new research ideas, write proposals based on your ideas, carry out the research, and document progress. * Design and implement research prototype software. Minimum Requirements: * Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, with a concentration in probabilistic modeling or machine learning, or a Master's degree with at least three years experience as a scientist in these areas. * Proven proficiency in modeling and analysis of real-world problems. * Strong understanding of machine learning and its application to real problems. * Familiarity with programming languages, natural language understanding, cyber security, databases, or graph theory will be considered a plus. * Experience with statistical relational learning/expressive probabilistic models is desirable. * Proficiency in Java. Scala proficiency will be considered a plus. * Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively in both oral and written form. * Ability to work independently or within a team environment. * Modeling and writing samples may be requested. * U.S Citizenship is required as the selected candidate may need to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Avi Pfeffer, PhD Principal Scientist Decision Management Systems Government Services Charles River Analytics Inc. 617.491.3474 x513 www.cra.com THIS MESSAGE IS INTENDED FOR THE USE OF THE PERSON TO WHOM IT IS ADDRESSED.
