Post-doctoral position in computational Bayesian modeling
A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Bayesian
modeling group at the Department of Biomedical Engineering and
Computational Science (BECS), Aalto University (former Helsinki
University of Technology), Finland.
We are looking for a postdoc who is interested in the following
areas:
o Bayesian statistical modeling, especially such as hierarchical,
non-parametric, spatial, spatio-temporal, dynamic, and sparse
models.
o Efficient computational methods for integration such as
expectation propagation, variational, and Markov chain Monte
Carlo methods.
o Applications of statistical models in epidemiology, disease
risk analysis, genomics, brain signal analysis (EEG/MRI).
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
(or be about to receive one), have an excellent background in at
least one of the above areas, a willingness to learn about the
others, and ability to teach research related courses.
The funding is for 2-3 years (one year probation).
The place of research is the Bayseian modeling group led by Adj.
Prof. Aki Vehtari at the Centre of Excellence in Computational
Complex Systems Research hosted in the Department of Biomedical
Engineering and Computational Science, Aalto University. The
department's focus is on living and other complex systems, their
measurement, analysis, modeling, understanding and control. Systems
of interest range from small to large: from quantum dots, molecular
interactions and nanosystems to neurons, the brain and the heart to
cognition, social and economical networks to information technology
systems.
