CALL FOR PAPERS (ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 22, 2010)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NIPS Workshop on Decision Making with Multiple Imperfect Decision Makers
at the 24th Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems
December 10, 2010, Whistler BC, Canada

Submission deadline (extended): October 22, 2010
Notification deadline: November 1, 2010

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW
Prescriptive Bayesian decision making has reached a high level of maturity,
supported by efficient, theoretically well-founded algorithms. While the
long-standing problem of describing a single decision maker's bounded
rationality is well-known, the similar problem for systems of multiple decision
makers with limited cognitive, acting and evaluative abilities/resources has
not been considered systematically. Societal, biological, and engineered
systems involve such sets of multiple imperfect decision makers, and can
provide insight into describing the behaviour of these systems.

The goal of this workshop is to explore connections between descriptive and
prescriptive decision making of multiple imperfect decision makers. The
workshop will focus on the relation between instances of bounded-rationality
and imperfection of decision makers in natural and engineered systems.
The NIPS2010 Workshop is a one-day workshop that will consist of two 3-hour
sessions. There will be 6 invited talks by experts in the area,
4-6 contributed talks and a poster session of contributed papers. There will be
time at the end of each talk/session for questions and discussion. A panel
discussion moderated by the organisers is scheduled.
