As a Scientist at Yahoo! Research, you will have the opportunity to
profoundly influence a company that has grown into one of the most
recognized and valuable Internet brands globally; a media and
communications giant founded on technology leadership; a company
comprising over 100 distinct properties reaching over 237 million
unique users in 25 countries and 13 languages; a company empowering
people to find, buy, or connect with nearly anything or anyone; yet a
company in its relative infancy. You will lead the next generation of
research in online media, community, economics, and data-driven
learning, in part by leveraging Yahoo!'s unparalleled breadth and
depth of content, community, technology, business services, and
data. You will be expected to pursue a mix of medium- and long-term
research, including high-risk/high-reward projects having the
potential for disruptive and revolutionary business impact. You will
have considerable freedom to guide your own research agenda, publish
results, attend and organize academic conferences, collaborate with
external researchers, and serve the research community. You will have
access to world-class computing resources, including hundreds of Linux
cluster nodes and 64-bit large-RAM machines, and data resources
available only at Yahoo!, including anonymized data from page views,
query logs, web search, sponsored search, news, blogs, rss, multimedia
content, entertainment services, communication services, preferences,
and profiles. You will have the ability to design and deploy
experimental services reaching millions of users. You will work with
Engineers and Scientists to turn ideas and algorithms into workable
prototypes, patents, and alpha/beta products. You will have the
opportunity to work with product groups throughout the company to
analyze data, identify problems, transfer technologies and solutions
into production, and jump-start new products and services.

Yahoo! offers a fun, casual, collaborative, and fast-paced working
environment with excellent benefits. For more details, see
