Wolfgang, technically this is a multi-domain patchseries, and I've overstepped my boundaries for the sake of expediency in adding the GPIO feature to 83xx-land. If this is a problem, and you'd like to apply patches 1 and 2 independently of mpc83xx, please let me know and I'll back the entire series off the mpc83xx tree. Fwiw, I build-tested a couple of ARM boards, including davinci. Please let me know before I send a pull request when the next branch is made available, or, of course, when the window for the next release opens.
