Which document are you referring to? I don't really see the "sf" 
command
documented anywhere.

the "sf update" online help:

        "sf update addr offset|partition len    - erase and write `len' 
bytes from memory\n"
        "                                         at `addr' to flash at 
`offset'\n"
        "                                         or to start of mtd 
`partition'\n"
