So in a bazillion years when this stuff finally becomes public domain will
it suddenly be referred to by a different name?  IP is just its legal status
(and a vague description of it, at that), it isn't a description of the
physical entity (however commonly it might be used as such).

IMHO "logic", "block", etc. are better nouns for these things.
