At issue is that CONFIG_MACH_TYPE (which will require a little thinking about how to migrate) is not something that can be up and removed. We support booting old Linux and we support booting non-Linux OSes that also make use of the old bd struct. Something I had done half an experiment on at some point, and forgotten about, was syncing only the MACH_TYPE_xxx values as the entire rest of the header contains logic we don't need. I'll give that a whirl and report back. -- Tom
