Thanks for the link. Yes there are definitely similarities, one operations on firmware images and one operates on disk images. I suppose that makes sense since with U-Boot we are mostly interested in generating a valid firmware binary, whereas OpenEmbedded is concerned with creating a disk image with various partitions, etc. I suspect that the U-Boot image may end up providing one of the inputs into OpenEmbedded. However all the examples (on p35) refer to EFI so I'm not sure if that is too low-level for WIC?
