I'm afraid I don't really understand what this script is intended for. To "edit" the U-Boot invironment we usually use the fw_printenv / fw_setenv tools from the tools/env/ directory. These know how do deal with plain and with redundant environment, stored in NOR and in NAND flash, etc. It seems the perl script does none of this?
