The DCC is the leading Computer Science Department in Chile, and one of the
most prominent in Latin America. The department is based in Santiago de Chile.
Today it has 21 full-time professors, 8 of which come from Argentina, Uruguay,
France, Ireland, and Peru. They carry out research at the highest level,
publishing about 80 articles per year in international conferences and journals.

The department is responsible for teaching Computer Science, with about 500
undergraduate, 80 MSc and 40 PhD students majoring in Computer Science. The
entry requirements for students are high, and they must undertake a rigorous
curriculum of STEM courses, ensuring a strong and vibrant academic environment
for both teaching and research.

Candidates must hold a PhD or be about to acquire a PhD (e.g., with a fixed
defense date) relating to Computer Science at the time of applying. Eligible
candidates (i.e., those working on data / A.I.) are invited to apply for both
calls, where similar requirements are requested (and can be reused) for both
applications.

Knowledge of Spanish is not required to apply, but we expect applicants to be
willing to learn Spanish when they arrive and to eventually teach in Spanish.

The positions will typically be filled at the Assistant Professor level
(tenure-track), but depending on experience, can be filled at an Associate or
Full Professor level. Salary depends on level, but for reference, the starting
salary for an Assistant Professor ranges between CLP$3,400,000 (USD$3,672
approx.) and CLP$4,000,000 (USD$4,320 approx.) per month before taxes with
ample opportunities to complement this salary via projects and other
activities. Taxes and the costs of living in Chile are low by OECD standards.

We invite applications from eligible candidates, and/or to share these
opportunities with such candidates.
