Here are thoughts for you: - NSIS documenation works on user contribution and does just fine - I could probably find much more examples. It only has login system (and probably administrators). - One administrator can easily lock or delete spammer account. And control what a lot of people wrote. It is much harder to write content than to control or approve it. - Wikipedia works even without signing up (if spam appears there is "return to previous version" option always). - People tend to give up if they have too much closed system - I already wrote to Francois and got no reply (I know I can remind him again, but how encouraging is that?) - When it is "open" to spam it is also open for people to correct spam entries and revert back to correct version - The current policy got you to the point there documentation is terrible or non-existent, how about trying something new see where that gets you? - Have you ever tried to make the system more open and there was really a lot of spam, or you simply assumed "it will be too much spam we can't risk that, this is better"? - regarding unwanted content - even bad documentation can be corrected or updated by someone more experienced if it is more open to editing. If having all of this is too much trouble, how about charging for the component and at least you'll be motivated to write documentation then - with current stand you are not open and not closed system. Don't underestimate the importance of good documentation, this could make huge difference. And finally - instead of me writing why having it more open is better I could already write a lot of content in the wiki... -- To unsubscribe or change your settings for TWSocket mailing list please goto http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/twsocket Visit our website at http://www.overbyte.be
