Hi! Does ICS provide any means to set static ARP entries?
Reason: We have a mesh of network nodes that communicate with each other using UDP (ICS V7). >From time to time we see packet loss even in a local, healthy network. Using Wireshark we found that packet loss only occurs if a.) Windows has just started an ARP request to update the MAC address of the UDP packet's target and b.) More than one UDP packet should be sent while that ARP request is waiting for its reply. Skimming through some of Microsoft's technical reference documents we found this to be an expected behaviour. One solution would be to setup a static entry in the ARP cache whenever a new network node is detected. Are there any helper routines in ICS providing such a functionality? And what about user rights? Is any Windows user allowed to manipulate the ARP cache? Any help apprechiated. -- elektronik-labor CARLS GmbH & Co.
