That is wrong. LinkedIn do not make email addresses public For example, Bill Gates is a LinkedIn member (by the way he is at third level from me). Try to find his email address from his profile (http://www.linkedin.com/in/billgates). But, what is correct is that a group manager (as I am for ICS) can view each of his group member email address.
