I repeat my comments that while V6 is 'pure beta', V5 must be fully maintained and no-one should be encouraged to migrate to it, particularly in light of my simple testing today.

The question remains open if the units should preserve the original names (8 characters for D1 compatibility !) or be changed. In a first step I changed the unit names to have less headache to switch between versions. This is not a definitive choice. I also raised the idea about a conversion tool (simple search and replace engine). V6 is still a pure beta. You should jump into the train if you want to influence it before the first release. Currently we can still change almost everything since it is a pure beta. Once V6 has been released, at least the interface will be frozen. > Having to change code in those hundreds of units to cater for property > changes that have no benefit to those units is simply non-productive and > wasted development time. There is currently no (or almost no) property change between V5 and V6. > An old version 5 could simply have been left on the web site for > download by people wanting to use Delphi 4 or earlier. That will be the case but for anything below Delphi 7 since V6 will start with D7 support. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Auteur du freeware ICS - Internet Component Suite Auteur du freeware MidWare - Multi-tiers framework http://www.overbyte.be -- To unsubscribe or change your settings for TWSocket mailing list please goto http://www.elists.org/mailman/listinfo/twsocket Visit our website at http://www.overbyte.be
