I am looking into the possibility of using the SMTP client to send an e-mail when a certain event occurs in my Delphi program.
I have both Delphi 2 and Delphi 5 and I am having the same problem running the demo MailSnd No matter where I set the host to I always receive ESocketException 10053 in function Connect". I have tried 2 different servers to connect to (our own internal Exchange server and our ISP's SMTP server as well. Both I know are working correctly as I can use a standard mail client to send a mail from both. I have also tried setting up my own small application with the SyncSmtpClient from some code I found on the web and that ALSO does exactly the same. I have spent all day messing around with it so time to ask for help. Anyone like to tell me where I am going wrong?
