I spent the day in Tinsel Town. I’m aware there is a dropoff in film and TV production in the area, but you wouldn’t know it if you drive through it. From Amoeba Records on Hollywood Blvd to Canter’s Deli on Fairfax, I don’t think there was a point in my journey when a film crew wasn’t somewhere in my direct sight line. Even one of the vinyl record shops I traditionally frequent was closed, as it was being used as a film set.
When I thought I’d finally found a side street free of StarWagons and craft service vans, I very nearly ran over a social media influencer shooting a video of herself crossing the street in a dress that Al Bundy would’ve called “a belt “.
