In recent years, the two categories for variety show writing--the series 
category, usually dominated by late-night shows, and the special category, 
dominated in recent years by standup specials--switched back and forth 
every year between the big Emmy show on live network TV and the Creative 
Arts ceremonies airing on tape on FXX, but this year both awards are on the 
Creative Arts--a letter from many past and present late-night hosts (and 
Bonami Jones of ESPN--I have no idea why he's there) and a petition signed 
by over 1,400 WGA members are demanding that the awards, which they say are 
the only awards given out to an entire writers' room, be on the main 
telecast:

And there is entertainment value here, if you recall the gag reels made by 
the late show writers' rooms announcing the nominees--and I can't find a 
damn example on Google.
