“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” made its Netflix debut a couple of weeks ago. I’ve seen all the episodes now and I give it mixed reviews. The first episode is with Zach Galifianakis, whose comedy I love. Galifianakis seems guarded. And then the episode morphs into “Between Two Ferns,” and Jerry Seinfeld is guarded. I never finished watching the episode. It was a lousy way to introduce it to Netflix. Next up is Dave Chappelle and Seinfeld homers here. Great discussion. Chappelle seemed quite comfortable and I learned some things. Ellen DeGeneres was third and was “meh.” Mixed feelings for many other episodes. I like Neal Brennan. He and a Atell are probably the two comedians whose jokes I steal the most in my personal life Maybe Jim Gaffigan too. But it was disappointing. Maybe because my expectations were so high. Loved Dana Carvey. The big surprise was probably Alec Baldwin. He was always a good guest on Letterman and Howard Stern but he really shines here. Much quicker than I expected. It ends with the late Jerry Lewis. Seinfeld asks why Lewis lives in Las Vegas. Lewis said the medical school has some of the best research in the country. Which is odd, because it was founded in August 2014. He lived in Las Vegas since the early 1980s, if I recall correctly. Lewis has some charm as a cranky old man. I guess it’s a victory he held himself together for so long. I look forward to the next batch, but these were disappointing.
