Sources told the *Times* <https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/08/business/dealbook/att-time-warner.html?emc=edit_na_20171108&nl=breaking-news&nlid=68554757&ref=headline&_r=0> (link) each of those firms' parents, still awaiting approval from the Justice Dept, were told unofficially that their respective properties' unloading would go a long way toward letting AT&T and Time Warner combine... a formal statement of such intentions would surely be challenged in court, and POTUS has never been in favor of this deal...
