My tenure at the Burbank NBC studios didn't occur until well after The Gong Show, but the legacy employees there who shared stories told the best stories about life behind-the-scenes, much of it not entirely legal, all of it totally insane. Barris was an enigma for many, but he provided a great deal of laughter to me. If I'm honest, I thought he passed away years ago, but still saddened by the news.
