I loved the first third of Netflix’s “True Memoirs of an International
Assassin.” Then the plot turns into a cliché and there’s too many
“Huh?” moments.

Kevin James plays a writer who gets mistaken for a hired killer. He
gets kidnapped. And that’s about the time the comedy ends. It became a
chore to finish the movie. James acquits himself well in the movie.
I’m not saying it’s an Oscar-caliber performance, but he carries his
scenes well. He especially looks good next to Zulay Henao, who is eye
candy and handles the action scenes well, but is wooden in her acting
scenes. Her IMDB page says she was once married to Terence Howard.
None of that seems to have rubbed off on her.

Kelen Coleman is great in her limited role as the unscrupulous book
company representative. I loved what she was able to do just raising
her eyebrows.

So I saw watch it until it starts getting tedious after he gets kidnapped.
