I agree with what you said about Pauley.

My only complaint about show: why isn’t it available On Demand?

And now there's another story from the Daily News, with anonymous quotes from
Osgood's pals angry that the decision is "not his idea" and that "The nicest
man in that building is being pushed out and is deeply hurt by this treatment."

Having said that... it really is time for a change. Osgood is 83 years old, and
he acts like it. He's definitely not the spry lad of 61 he was when he took
over the show. And considering that he takes a lot of time off - guest hosts
Lee Cowan and Jane Pauley anchor the show almost as much as he does - I think
the transition will be a pretty graceful one. Unless Osgood complains publicly.

For years I've thought that Cowan and Anthony Mason were being groomed to take
over the show. But Mason, who is also CBS News' financial reporter and
co-anchor of CBS This Morning Saturday, is probably going to stick with hard
(or harder) news. And from the second Pauley joined the show, I knew she'd be
the next host. Cowan is charming and folksy (although I wish he would learn to
stand up straight!), but Pauley has the name recognition they need. (Her old
friend David Letterman endorsed her for the job in a New York Times interview
last year, saying she was a great fit for the show.)

Whoever they pick, it'll be someone from that group. And thanks to all the
guest hosting spots, the audience will accept whoever is chosen.
