The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette had a long article about the digital conversion and local theaters about a month ago. The conversion is definitely coming and the situation is not as dire in cities. Small theaters in Pittsburgh are hesitant about joining the industry program because they think it means giving up too much power to the entertainment companies. I think the small town theaters are out of options when it comes to first run movies if they can't afford the new equipment. They can become repertory theaters and run old movies or they can get blu-ray players and projectors and get a license (assuming one is available) to show recent movies that way. Of course that means waiting until the movie comes out for the home market. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
