The party brought it on itself, and I encourage everyone not to vote in November... I've been quite vocal that our elections are futile, and I hope we have record low voter turnout as the ultimate sign of how little confidence we have in the system, and how little it matters who resides at 1600 Penn' Ave > But just because neither Obama nor Romney will solve > every (or even most) problems does not mean that there are not meaningful > and dramatic and practical differences between the two of them. Differences aren't what gets covered by the press. If the press were interested in the divide in our society, the protesters facing down the police (and US military) in Tampa would be the top news story. Instead we get stories of people throwing peanuts at reporters and people booing speakers -- stories that aren't about Romney's position about DADT or the DOMA or health care. If I thought for a second that the news was going to focus on the substance of what the candidates say or believe (or say they believe) I'd consider watching, but history (and the present news websites) tell me I'm right for not watching. Believe me, I wish I was wrong, but I don't have the emotional strength to be openly screwed by two political parties, the politicians in those parties, and the journalists assigned to cover those parties. It might not qualify as "legitimate rape," but I refuse to submit to whatever they are doing. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
