Caveat, I'm in a hurry and haven't looked at your code. But when things run fine for a long time then crash my first instinct is to think "memory leak". You don't specify OS but if it is *nix like then it probably has vmstat so try running it with, say, a 1 minute delay and log the output to a file. Then see if the memory is being consumed. Or use top or ps whatever other memory monitor you have.
