It seems you need to install win32all (http://starship.python.net/crew/mhammond/win32/). The ActiveState Python distro (ActivePython) includes this as well. Note that ActivePython is not the same thing as ActiveState Visual Python, which seems to be what you got - one is a Python distro, the other is an extension of the VisualStudio IDE. Neither is a .Net implementation of Python, IronPython is (http://www.ironpython.com/).
