The master branch has switched to using password plugins for PS storage a couple weeks ago, yes.
What plugin do you have selected in the settings dialog? It's in the General tab.
Or is this about not remembering the password for which Trojita prompts automatically during each send when you don't have that password stored anywhere? I recall that previously it would remember it temporarily in RAM.
