As far as I know there are only two contact data services: Evolution Data Server (EDS) and Akonadi.
Data service is not excatly the same as "addressbook", where there are hundreds. So if Trojitá was eg. to (by desktop service plugin) support gfa or osmo on xfce (i randomly googled and found a list of recommended applications) or kontakter or .... long story short: you use one addressbook and you're not moving away from that unless you can (halfwise easily) convert the data - esp. you're not using addressbook A on KDE, B on GNOME and C on XFCE - i didn't mean to say that this is an actual problem (few ppl. change their DE from day to day), but "dragging" Akonadi into GNOME could be claimed one (as vv.), so i'd rather "export" that problem to data migration and use the service/addressbook of supported on the DE or an integrated one (as eg. opera and iirc also thunderbird) Cheers, Thomas
