I tried the Wacom 'Intuos Pen Small' CTL-480 hooked up to a Dell Vostro 220 running Ubuntu 14.04, and moving the cursor to the left edge of the screen did not bring out the Unity panel, where as the USB mouse I'm using did. I can test this with the Asus Eee running 12.04 if desired, etc.
