On boot both of the screens were flashing on (black screen) and off (like in sleep mode/computer powered off). I took the computer to a smaller station with wired Ethernet, and only one monitor. After moving to this new location I tried in vein to access the recovery mode. Then I put the Ubuntu 15.04 installer onto a flash- drive from a laptop and ran a reinstall in place. After that it still would not boot. I was able to get to the recovery mode. In recovery mode I enabled networking and then ran the option to fix packages. It said that kernal modules were failing to load. I then restarted into recovery-mode, enabled networking, then ran a dpkg --configure -a, an apt-get update, and an apt-get upgrade. That is when the package started to surface as a potential culprit. After that it was able to boot into Gnome. I am now moving my files off with the intention of performing a clean install.
