Public bug reported: On a fresh Ubuntu 15.04 system, the /usr/bin/lsb_release program doesn't function as described in the documentation.
After poking around a bit, it seems to require the "lsb 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8" package. Also, the documentation refers to a man page which doesn't exist (without the lsb package). In any case, I was trying to find out which distribution I was running for a multi-platform program, and the `lsb_release -v` isn't very helpful as shipped. So... it's either a documentation problem, or a missing "lsb 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8" package problem. I'll let you guys sort it out. It's broken in 15.10 (wily) pre-release, as well. I know documentation issues aren't the same level of critical as a kernel defect, but I thought you'd want to know. -Erik Bennett ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: lsb-release 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-25.26-generic 3.19.8-ckt2 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-25-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.1 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Aug 1 16:29:13 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-07-25 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release i386 (20150422) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: lsb UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lsb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lsb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480621 Title: lsb_release doesn't function as shipped Status in lsb package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On a fresh Ubuntu 15.04 system, the /usr/bin/lsb_release program doesn't function as described in the documentation.
