Hi,
MATE desktop 1.8.1 is now in the official Ubuntu 14.10 archive. However,
there are some incompatibilites with the GTK2 version of Ambiance and
Radiance and some missing icon assets.
* Icons are missing for the volume applet.
* The MATE panel background is not themed correctly.
* Some of the selectors are not using the correct base color.
I'll prepare a merge proposal that addresses these issues.
