Gerben, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1313275 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, please note given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. The console comes unresponsive, even text-only (ctrl-alt-f2) does not show. System itself still runs, I can login over SSH. Process for Xorg shows one full cpu used. The system came up from hybernate, the graphical display showed password entry for other user, the switch towared the one user showed the password entry for the one user. After entering the password the display turns black, with ctrl-alt-f2 not responding either. Via ssh I can produce the following: (3-core cpu): top - 09:27:16 up 8 days, 7:06, 8 users, load average: 3,00, 2,82, 1,84 Tasks: 281 total, 2 running, 279 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie %Cpu(s): 0,2 us, 33,4 sy, 0,0 ni, 66,3 id, 0,0 wa, 0,0 hi, 0,0 si, 0,0 st KiB Mem: 8176516 total, 7891016 used, 285500 free, 132652 buffers KiB Swap: 8384508 total, 112 used, 8384396 free. 3028468 cached Mem PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 1074 root 20 0 591924 422764 18976 R 97,8 5,2 14:10.38 Xorg 32539 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 2,3 0,0 0:13.09 kworker/1:0 1148 kernoops 20 0 37144 1008 688 S 0,3 0,0 0:05.44 kerneloops 2622 geus 20 0 28004 1776 1172 R 0,3 0,0 0:00.12 top ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-19.33-generic 3.11.10.5 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' Date: Sun Apr 27 09:18:02 2014 DistUpgraded: 2014-04-19 02:20:42,663 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: fglrx, 13.350.1, 3.11.0-19-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
