While the correct kernel graphics driver is loaded (gma500 / gma500_gfx), it looks like the Xorg driver for accelerated graphics support only existed in Ubuntu 8.04 (yes from 2008): https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-psb So you should not expect any working graphics driver for GMA500.
