Title:
colord-sane prevents connection to USB scanner

Status in colord-gtk:
  Fix Released
Status in colord package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have here the slide scanner ‘Braun MultiMag SlideScan 6000’. When I connect
it and switch it on, the colord-sane process is started during its approx.
2-minute self-calibration, which then disappears again. After that, the device
is no longer listed via lsusb, so presumably the USB port is switched off. Even
running the scan application does not prevent this. It is still recognised
before the 2 minutes have elapsed:
  $ lsusb
  [.....]
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
  [.....]
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 05e3:0142 Genesys Logic, Inc. Multiple Slides
Scanner-3600

A workaround is to stop colord.service before.

The only way to connect the scanner permanently and then use it is to connect
the scanner to USB only after it's self-calibration. Then colord-sane will no
longer be started.
However, this obviously prevents the use of colour management.

IMHO, it should not be the task of the colour management to switch off
  USB ports.

I attach the USB capture with WireShark.
