Simply put gio copy -p fails to report progress when the source and
destination are both mounted NFS shares. If either the source or the
destination are local progress is reported as normal.

Shares are mounted with this line in /etc/fstab

- 92.168.1.70:/mnt/backup_drive /mnt/backup_drive nfs defaults,nofail
- 0 0

"cat /proc/mounts | grep nfs" output is

My testing has been down with a server running Mint 22, nfs-kernel-
server/noble,now 1:2.6.4-3ubuntu5 amd64. Another user has reported the
same issue with the server running on Debian 12. As the bug appears to
be related to the client rather than the server we suspect this is a
  client side bug.

This also translates to GUI File Managers failing to report progress for
copies instigated in the file manage. Issue reproduced with Nautilus in
Ubuntu 24.04 and 24.10, Nemo & Caja in Mint 22...
