I'm using an up-to-date Xubuntu 18. The system is still bootable. But I couldn't extract initramfs: root@Chrom-agent:/tmp# file /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-22-generic /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-22-generic: ASCII cpio archive (SVR4 with no CRC) After removed /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/intel_microcode and regenerated initramfs, the initrd could be recognized by compress utility.
