Same here, I was using Ubuntu 23.10 for a while, and on day my headset started behaving weirdly, I didn't installed anything.
When trying to troubleshoot, I noticed that I had audio working when choosing Handsfree mode, that's mono audio with mic input for my Senheiser HD BT40, but it doesn't work when choosing other configurations with stereo high fidelity aptX or anything else. Moving forward, I noticed that even the laptop audio isn't working (Comet Lake PCH cAVS) from my hinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 Intel (15"). I think I broke my system even harder trying to fix it trying pipewire, wireplumber and such, now when I go to Sound Configuration I don't even see other previously available configurations when selecting the Headset.
