Thanks for your report.

ibus-pinyin is deprecated, and we recommend to use ibus-libpinyin
(Intelligent Pinyin) instead.

A problem with a specific IBus plugin is not an ibus bug per se, so
closing.

Title:
  IBus Pinyin automatically backspaces selection

Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
When my input method is set to IBus Pinyin, any time I select a span
of text with the cursor, with Shift + Arrow keys, or by giving a
textbox focus, the selected text gets automatically removed.

The deletion of the selection behaves as if the input method pressed
the backspace key for me. I can undo the text removal by using Ctrl-Z.

I did not observe the same problem on the Ubuntu default English (US)
input, or with IBus WuBi Jidian 86 and IBus Mozc.

I use IBus Pinyin 1.5.0, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Kernel 5.4.0-146-generic.
