Title:
Popping sound when audio driver engaged
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Fresh install of Disco over the weekend on new hard drive. Any time a
sound plays, whether it's from a browser (both Firefox and Chromium),
Slack, video or MP3 file, sound in VirtualBox OS, etc. Any sound,
even an alert sound or even just opening an app that may make a sound
(e.g. opening a browser page that may have alerts or sounds (like a
game) makes the same popping sound just when browsing to that page).
It's preceded by a pop or a click from the speakers, a fast pop-pop
sound.
When said audio is finished, about 25% of the time there is another
audible pop or click.
I have 18.04.x LTS on another hard drive and when I boot to that
instance I do not have the pop sound.
I believe it's probably driver related, but I'm not sure where to
look.
Fresh disco install, have performed apt updates, and rebooted several
times. Has persisted for several weeks.
