If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). the only way to get the scanner working again is to power it off (unplug) and plug it again. this time its recognized by scanimage -L or xsane running as non-root as well root. looks like something has got a hold of the device and not letting it go! its similar to when a scanning app crashes and leaves things is a bad state. only way to clear that is power off the scanner and plug it back-in this has been happening since 11.10, and now also w/ 12.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xsane 0.998-3ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-25.40-generic 3.2.18 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-25-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Jun 27 22:00:50 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) SourcePackage: xsane UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-06-26 (1 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libusb/+bug/1018677/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
