Echo cancellation is a basic feature for anything where you are using
a video or audio conference. According to instructions like these:

There is now enough support in pulseaudio to do this well, but it's
just not enabled by default. Users shouldn't need to fish around for
strange things to add to config files. More complete defaults should
be included.
