shotwell shuts down after launch

Bug description:
I had been using Shotwell to import jpgs from my Sony cybershot 7.2
successfully, each time the files would go to the appropriate
directory without issue. Mysteriously, Shotwell would start showing
thumbnail images but then die, whether it was lauched as a command or
invoked from turning on the camera. I reinstalled Shotwell, but it
still is doing the same thing. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04
