It has been working fine all along until this past week or so. I
upgraded my machine to Bionic via the sed route and needed to patch a
symbols file with that buildlog, but it won't gunzip it. As I said,
I've never had any issues uncompressing buildlogs until now.

cliv...@kubuntu.org:~ $ apt-cache policy gzip
gzip:
  Installed: 1.6-5ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.6-5ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.6-5ubuntu1 500
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I have just noticed that the auto complete is inserting a / into the
filename at the epoch. I renamed the file to test.txt.gz but it still
fails.

Title:
gunzip fails with message : not in gzip format

Status in gzip package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I use "gzip -d" or "gunzip" to extract build logs to update the
  symbols. For example:

  wget https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-
  ci/+archive/ubuntu/unstable/+build/13749931/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-
  bionic-
  amd64.kf5-messagelib_4%3A17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

  gunzip buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
  amd64.kf5-messagelib_4\:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

However, on Bionic this last command fails with:

  gzip: buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
  amd64.kf5-messagelib_4:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz:
  not in gzip format

The same file extracts on other systems, just not Bionic 18.04
