Thanks a lot for the feedback, Daniel! I have just tested it on 17.10
and it doesn't happen anymore in Gnome; it happens only in 16.04 and
Unity. If it might be fixed in 16.04, I can take some screenshots and
post them later.

Title:
Insufficient padding in horizontal panes causes a resize of the panes
  when alternating between toggle buttons

Status in ubuntu-themes package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
In Ubuntu Software, when clicking on "Updates", the horizontal pane
that holds the buttons "All", "Installed," and "Updates" gets resized
vertically in order to accommodate the "Refresh" button that gets
shown in the "Updates" section, which causes a small visual glitch.

The same effect happens in System Monitor when alternating between the
"Processes" section and "Resources" and/or "Filesystem."
