Public bug reported:

Recently more and more unusable entries showed up in the network manager
indicator.

The "New mobile broadband connection" entry is listed 4 times -four
lines each- and 4 specific GSM phones are listed that are not currently
around.

Currently I have 24 extra lines that I cant use for anything, they make
no use, I already have to scroll down at the bottom edge of the screen
to find the actual available connections.

(see the screenshot)

Release: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
network-manager-gnome: 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4.5

I tried to delete all entries from
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/
but the culprits show up again after a reboot.
I also tried to purge and reinstall everything corresponding to the network
manager.
