Child window not getting qml active focus when it gets MirSurface focus is one bug.
The top-level window is not getting qml active focus when its child is closed because its MirSurface is also not getting focus. Start Kate 2. Press Ctrl+O to open the file dialog 3. Notice the file dialog "appears" to be focused, the cursor in the filename text field is blinking but you can't start typing the filename and you can't e.g. dismiss the dialog by pressing Esc 4. Only after you've clicked the filename textfield, you can start typing and hit Esc to close 5.
