I was trying the sound test and after I change the surround option available in the sound test, the whole sound disappear and the default output device disappear in the Audio settings. Trying to fix an existing unresolved problem actually made it worse. Now I do not have any sound at all internal and from the jack for the headphone. By the way I tested a windows 10 live and the sound worked also from the jack for the headphones!!! Have not being using windows for the last 10 years I was impressed how they have improved.
