Looking back at the merge proposals the decision was that the ubuntu-
themes would be specific to Ubuntu/Unity and no additional support for
other desktops would be accepted. I was advised to create derivative
themes, which we have done they are called Ambiant-MATE and Radiant-MATE
and are provided by the ubuntu-mate-artwork package.

Bug description:
Hi,
MATE desktop 1.8.1 is now in the official Ubuntu 14.10 archive.
However, there are some incompatibilites with the GTK2 version of
Ambiance and Radiance and some missing icon assets.
* Icons are missing for the volume applet.
* The MATE panel background is not themed correctly.
* Some of the selectors are not using the correct base color.
I'll prepare a merge proposal that addresses these issues.
